Airport Collection

FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS VISITING JAMAICA –

Once you have arrived in Jamaica *(Sangster International Airport – MBJ). After clearing immigration, one of our representatives will be at the ARRIVAL terminal No.1 on the outside holding up a name card with your first name and rental reservation confirmation number, the representative will then usher you to your rental car to get you driving as quickly as possible. Renter Requirement

23 to 70 years.

All renters and additional drivers must be 23 or older, a Renter under age 25 will attract an Underage Surcharge Fee of $24.95 USD per day. Certain car class restrictions apply*. Renter must have a valid driver’s license and a major credit card in their name. Driver’s licenses are accepted from any USA state or territory, from a Canadian province or from an international country. Licenses from outside Jamaica also may require an international driver’s permit. International driver’s permits are valid only if presented with the original local license. Individuals with learner’s permits are not eligible to rent. Jamaican registered business employees ages 19 or older will not incur a young driver surcharge when renting for authorized business travel. Renters over seventy years (70) will have to pay an extra $34.95 USD fee per day. This is only a summary. For additional details, please reference the Driver’s License Information Policy.

Driver’s License Information

CUSTOMERS WHO RESIDES IN JAMAICA –

Customers who reside in Jamaica must present a valid, unexpired government-issued Driver’s license which includes a photograph of the renter.  Digital licenses are not accepted.  The driver’s license must be valid for the entire rental period.

CUSTOMERS TRAVELLING TO JAMAICA FROM OTHER COUNTRIES –

It is important that customers check with the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles in the Country in which they intend to travel to ensure compliance with their various licensing laws.  The following practices are used to ensure the customer is presenting a facially valid license at the time of rental.

Customers traveling to Jamaica from another country must present the following:

Their home country driver’s license, and If the home country license is in a language other than English and the letters are English (i.e. German, Spanish, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is recommended, but not required, for translation purposes in addition to the home country license.

If the home country license is in a language other than English and the letters are not English (i.e.alphabet is not an extended Latin-based alphabet like German or Spanish but is Russian, Japanese, Arabic, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is required.

If an International Driver’s permit cannot be obtained in the home country, another professional, type-written translation may be substituted.  In either case the home country license must also be presented.

Customers may not rent a vehicle solely with the International Driver’s Permit.  The International Driver’s Permit is a translation of the individual’s home country license and is not considered a license nor is it considered valid identification.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS –

Photocopies of Driver’s Licenses are not accepted

“Learner’s Permits” are not accepted.

Any license which, on its face, restricts the licensee to the use and operation of a vehicle equipped with a form of a breathalyzer apparatus is not accepted.

Temporary Driver’s Licenses may be refused if the renting location is unable to otherwise verify the customer’s identity or verify the authenticity of the temporary license.  Additional Government-issued identification may be required.

Additional Driver

Additional drivers must meet same rental qualifications as the renter, except spouse or domestic partner. Additional drivers must appear at the rental counter with the primary renter. There will be an additional charge of $11.99 USD per day with ($59.95 USD Limit) for each additional authorized driver other than a spouse or domestic partner, unless other contractual conditions apply. There is a limit of one additional driver per rental contract. Additional drivers must be 25 or older with a $1.00 USD credit card pre-authorization required at pick-up.

If this option is declined No Additional drivers are authorized to drive the vehicle except for the drivers listed on the Rental Agreement or Summary of Charges.

DEPOSIT AMOUNT –

A major credit card in the renter’s name is required on all rentals. If using a debit card please contact us for further qualification information. A security deposit amount of between $500.00 USD – $600.00 USD plus, the cost of the rental will be secured at rental pick-up, and the funds will not be available for use until after the rental vehicle has been returned in given condition. If using a Jamaican driver’s license, a deposit amount of $600.00 USD or JMD equivalent plus the actual cost of the rental will be required. Major credit cards, debit cards are accepted for final payment. AMG Car Rentals is not responsible for any overdraft fees incurred.

IMPORTANT – We may only accept credit / debit cards that have the numbers and names EMBOSSED into the plastic (for the purpose of imprinting the card). If you have a card without the printed numbers and names EMBOSSED on it, please contact our office for more information.

Debit Card

Cash Deposit may not be accepted at our locations.

A passport in addition to a credit card, with available credit and in the renter’s name, must be presented at the time of rental for customers outside of Jamaica. The signature on the back of the card must match the name imprinted on the front. In addition, if the renter has an online transaction, the number and name printed on the card presented by the renter must match the name and number stored for the online transaction.

The renter will be charged through a credit card, a refundable authorization amount of between $300.00 USD – $500.00 USD as a Security Deposit plus, the cost of the rental. This authorization amount may be used for loss/damage to the rental vehicle and/or other miscellaneous charges, and the funds will not be available for use until after the rental vehicle has been returned in given condition.

If the renter has insurance coverage through a credit card, a refundable authorization amount will be secured of between $300.00 USD – $500 USD plus the cost of the rental. To ensure a smooth rental process, we encourage renters to verify in advance that JAMAICA is included in their credit card auto rental insurance coverage prior to the rental. Proof of coverage required at pick-up. *

Collision Damage Waiver

Collision Damage waiver (CDW) for our branch ranges between $11.99 USD and $24 USD per day. – CDW is offered at online checkout or at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If the renter accepts CDW, Amg Car Rentals waives or reduces the renter’s responsibility for loss of, or damage to, the Rental Vehicle (including but not limited to towing, loss of use, administrative fees and/or some diminishment of value) subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement and applicable laws. CDW is not insurance. The purchase of CDW is optional and not required to rent a car. The protection provided by CDW may duplicate the renter’s existing coverage. AMG Car Rentals is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renter’s existing coverage; therefore the renter should examine his or her credit card protections, automobile insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the protection provided by CDW.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, the PAI contained in the policy provides renter and renter’s passengers with accidental death, accident medical expenses and ambulance expense benefits. Benefits are payable in addition to any other insurance coverage the renter or passengers may have. This is a summary only. PAI is subject to the provisions, limitations and exclusions of the PAI policy underwritten by the Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) in Jamaica. The purchase of PAI is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by PAI may duplicate the renter’s existing coverage. AMG Car Rentals is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renter’s existing coverage; therefore, the renter should examine his or her personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by PAI. The fee for PAI is $9.95 USD per day; vehicles with seating capacity for 8 people or more will have a fee of $13.95 USD per day.

Supplemental Liability Protection (SLP)

Supplemental Liability Protection (SLP) for our branch average between $11.95 USD and $17.95 USD per day. SLP is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, SLP provides the renter and authorized drivers with up to 500,000 JMD combined single limit for third party liability claims. If the renter accepts SLP, AMG Car Rentals provides third party liability protection up to the applicable minimum financial responsibility limit and the Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) provides excess third party liability insurance coverage from the applicable minimum financial responsibility limit to 500,000 JMD. This is a summary only. SLP is subject to the terms, conditions, provisions, limitations and exclusions in the supplemental rental liability insurance excess policy underwritten by ICWI. The purchase of SLP is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by SLP may duplicate the renter’s existing coverage. AMG Car Rentals is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renter’s existing coverage; therefore, the renter should examine his or her personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by SLP.

Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP)

Renter may purchase Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP) from AMG Car Rentals for an additional fee. If Renter purchases RAP, Owner agrees, subject to the actions that invalidate Collision Damage Waiver, to contractually waive Renter’s responsibility for the cost to provide 24/7 roadside assistance (where available) which includes replacement of lost keys (including remote entry devices), flat tire service (if no inflated spare is available, the vehicle will be towed. Cost of a replacement tire is not covered by RAP), lockout service (if the keys are locked inside the vehicle), jump-starts, and fuel delivery service for up to 3 gallons (or equivalent liters) of fuel if Vehicle is out of fuel. Roadside Assistance Protection services are only available in the parishes of St. James, Trelawny & St. Ann . If Renter does not purchase RAP, or RAP is invalidated as set forth above, roadside assistance will be available, but standard charges will apply. For roadside assistance call 877-873-6826.

Refueling Service

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.

Option 1 – Prepay Fuel.

This option allows the renter to pay for the tank of gas at the time of rental and returned the tank empty. No refund will be issued for unused gas.

Option 2 – Full to Full.

This option allows the renter to return the vehicle with the same amount of gas as received to avoid extra fuel charges. You will leave a deposit to cover the cost of the fuel: the customer staff will block this money on your credit card. Just before you return your car, please replace the fuel you’ve used to avoid extra fuel charges which will be substantially higher than at the pump.

Option 3 – We Refill.

This option allows the renter to pay AMG Car Rentals at the end of the rental for gas used but not replaced. Price per gallon will be higher than local fuel prices.

Accident

In case of an accident, the renter will pay the liability outstanding regardless of whom was at fault. Once the other party admits fault and AMG Car Rentals have been notified in writing that they will pay the full amount, then the liability will be refunded. If the renter is at fault no refund will be given.

All accidents are to be reported to the Police immediately. Ensure all details of third parties are recorded at the scene. Report to AMG Car Rentals immediately. Accident report forms can be found in the glove compartment and must be filled out and returned to AMG Car Rentals within 24 Hours. Failure to do so could void all or part of insurance coverage. Do not admit liability. Our staff will assist with any difficulties.

Single Vehicle Incidents

Where the vehicle is involved in a single-vehicle incident the renter will not be provided with a replacement vehicle and will not have the balance of the rental funds refunded. The renter will be responsible for making there own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Traffic Infringements 

Traffic Infringements are the responsibility of the renter, an administration fee of $25.00 USD per violation will be charged in addition to the fine(s).

Smoking

All vehicles are “Smoke Free” any detection that smoking has occurred will attract a $299.99 USD cleaning and deodorizing fee.

Cleaning

All Rental Vehicles are given to customers in a respectable state and we ask that they be returned the same way. Charges will incur if a vehicle is dirty when it is returned. Pets are not permitted in any of AMG Car Rentals vehicles. Please be considerate of other renters. If a vehicle requires cleaning a minimum charge of $100.00 USD will be incurred to cover the collection of the vehicle, cleaning and wet vac or polishing of marks etc to be done plus staff time incurred to do those jobs.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel at least 8 days in advance of the scheduled rental car pick-up, there is no cancellation charge. If you cancel between 4 to 7 days in advance of the scheduled rental car pick-up, there is a 50 percent cancellation charge which is half of the quoted [Grand Total] price for such reservation provided at checkout. If you cancel within 3 days of when the rental car is scheduled to be picked-up. There is no money back/refund, instead, you will receive a credit towards a future rental reservation/booking.
Note: If renter extends cancellation exceeding 10 days, renter will have to redo entire reservation.

Refund

No refunds are given for early returns or late collections. Any changes to your plans must be notified to AMG Car Rentals. Late collections do not mean that your return time will be altered.

Rates Valid

Rates are subject to change without prior notice to any customer.

Local Tax

GOVERNMENTAL AUTHORITIES WILL IMPOSE GENERAL CONSUMPTION TAX (GCT) AND OTHER MANDATORY CHARGES ON CUSTOMERS OF CAR RENTAL COMPANIES OR CAR RENTAL TRANSACTIONS. THESE CHARGES WILL APPEAR IN THE CHARGES SECTION OF THE RENTAL AGREEMENT.
