Collision Damage Waiver is not insurance. The purchase of CDW is optional, and is not required in order to Rent a Car.

The Renter is responsible for the full cost of loss/damage to the rental vehicle. This can be reduced or eliminated by the following CDW options listed below.

You may purchase optional CDW for an additional fee. If you purchase CDW we agree, subject to the actions that invalidate CDW listed on the rental agreement, to contractually waive your responsibility for all or part of the cost of damage to, loss or theft of, the rental vehicle.

When deciding whether or not to purchase CDW, Please check with your insurance representative or credit card company to verify coverage in JAMAICA before renting, to determine whether, in the event of damage to, or theft of, a rental vehicle, you have coverage or protection for such damage or theft and the amount of your excess or out-of-pocket risk.

Please note: Some credit cards issued in the USA, Canada and the Latin American/Caribbean region may offer full collision damage waiver cover for rental vehicles. You may, therefore, decline to purchase our Collision Damage to Vehicle Waiver.

Best Credit Card Rental Car Insurance

Further verification by our representatives may be required on arrival. To expedite the rental process, the renter/cardholder should request a copy of the insurance coverage policy from the issuing bank, insurance representative or credit card company for the intended rental period and present this to the rental agent at the time the rental vehicle is being picked up.

Collision Damage Waiver *(Zero Liability). – The Renter can eliminate ALL liability for loss/damage to the rental vehicle by adding Collision Damage Waiver Zero Liability–[5a] at checkout or at time of rental. To be eligible for 5a, renter must have a valid (VISA, MASTERCARD or DISCOVER) credit card which includes car rental insurance that will cover loss/damage to a rental vehicle in JAMAICA.

In the event of loss/damage to the Rental Vehicle you are liable to be billed directly for the full amount and upon making a claim to your bank, insurance representative or credit card company, you will be reimbursed by them. N.B. If Collision Damage Waiver *(Zero Liability) option is taken, there are No Extra charges, however, a credit card authorization for a deposit between $500.00 USD to $600.00 USD will be secured at the beginning of the rental and will be refunded at the end of the rental if there is no loss/damage. This deposit will be applied to any loss/damage charges which may occur and will be refunded if there is no loss/damage to the rental vehicle. If the loss/damage exceeds this deposit, the additional amount will be billed to your insurance representative and/or credit card. Credit cards which offer full CDW coverage generally do not cover for windshield, tyres and rims. However, renters with full credit card rental car insurance coverage, can purchase a waiver (Tyre & Windshield Damage Waiver (TWDW)) for damage to windshield, tyres and rims by paying an additional $9.99 USD per day. Credit cards issued outside of USA, Canada or Latin America/Caribbean while acceptable for payment, may not be accepted for full CDW insurance coverage. Clients without full credit card rental car insurance coverage may opt to purchase one our Collision Damage to Vehicle Waivers, or if you still wish to decline our Collision Damage Waiver (Platinum, Gold or Silver) options. Hereafter, 9a* would apply:

Note: In the event of a loss/damage, the renter must pursue their own claim for compensation with their bank, insurance representative or card company. AMG Car Rentals and Sales., Ltd. will not be able to act on their behalf.

Option 1 – Limited Liability. – The Renter can limit liability for loss/damage to the rental vehicle by purchasing Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). The CDW charge per day and the liability/excess amounts for each waiver type are as follows:

• – Silver = $11.99 USD per day/ Damage Excess ≤$2999.00 USD
• – Gold = $14.99 USD per day/ Damage Excess ≤$1999.00 USD
• – Diamond = $19.99 USD per day/ Damage Excess ≤$1500.00 USD
• – Platinum = $24 USD per day/ Damage Excess ≤$499.00 USD

If the car’s bodywork gets damaged, the most you’ll pay towards repairs covered by the Collision Damage Waiver (Platinum, Gold or Silver) is the damage excess amount.

This cover is only valid if you stick to the terms of the Rental Agreement. It doesn’t cover other parts of the rental vehicle as shown below.

What is included? – Loss/Damage to the exterior due to collision or theft of the rental vehicle.

The following are not covered if the rental vehicle is returned with loss/damage to these interior items and there is no evidence or report of a break-in.

• – Loss/Damage to exterior fixtures e.g. Windows, side mirrors, wipers, antennae due to collision or theft
• – Windscreen damage
• – Damage to road wheels (tyres, rims, hubcaps)
• – Mats
• – Child seat(s)
• – Radio/CD/Tape Player
• – Speakers
• – GPS devices
• – Tools
• – Spare Tyres
• – Vents
• – Sun Shade
• – Interior – Upholstery, Carpets & other Fabric coverings
• – Roof
• – Lost keys
• – Personal belongings
• – Towing
• – Off-road time
• – Damage to undercarriage or engine as a result of negligent operation of the rental vehicle

9a – PLEASE NOTE: If no CDW insurance is taken, the Liability in case of an accident is at a minimum of ≥$3600.00 USD. This amount will be pre-authorized against your credit card prior to rental, thereby ‘freezing’ your available funds for that amount over the duration of the [Rental Period].

If Renter chooses to limit the Liability, a pre-authorization may not be needed.

Cost – $0.00 (included in rental cost)

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, the PAI contained in the policy provides renter and renter’s passengers with accidental death, accident medical expenses and ambulance expense benefits. Benefits are payable in addition to any other insurance coverage the renter or passengers may have. This is a summary only.

The purchase of PAI is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by PAI may duplicate the renter’s existing coverage.

AMG Car Rentals is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renter’s existing coverage; therefore, the renter should examine his or her personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by PAI.

What does PAI cost? – The cost of PAI varies based on the location you are renting. It will average between $9.95 and $13.95 per day.

Supplemental Liability Protection (SLP) is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, SLP provides the renter and authorized drivers with up to 500,000 JMD combined single limit for third party liability claims.

If the renter accepts SLP, AMG Car Rentals provides third party liability protection up to the applicable minimum financial responsibility limit and the Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) provides excess third party liability insurance coverage from the applicable minimum financial responsibility limit to 500,000 JMD. This is a summary only.

The purchase of SLP is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by SLP may duplicate the renter’s existing coverage.

AMG Car Rentals is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renter’s existing coverage; therefore, the renter should examine his or her personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by SLP.

What Does Supplemental Liability Protection (SLP) Cost? – The cost of SLP varies based on location you are renting. It will average between $11.95 USD and $17.95 USD per day.

Tyre & Windshield Damage Waiver (TWDW) is not insurance. TWDW is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge.

The purchase of TWDW is optional and not required to rent a car.

If you purchase TWDW we agree, subject to the actions that invalidate TWDW listed on the rental agreement, to contractually waive your liability for all or part of the cost of damage to, loss, damage or theft of, the rental vehicle’s windscreen, tyre, rims and hubcaps.

NOTE: If TWDW is not taken, the Liability in case of damage to, loss, damage or theft of, the rental vehicle’s windscreen, tyre, rims and hubcaps is at a minimum of (≥$699.00 USD).

Roadside Assistance Protections (RAP) allows AMG Car Rentals customers to waive financial responsibility for chargeable roadside incidents such as lost keys, lockouts and fuel outages.

RAP can be added to online bookings at the branch or can be added to a rental reservation at any time. Please note: If added mid-rental, the renter must return to a designated renting location to have the vehicle inspected before adding RAP.
